My new home, a container.

Containers are not just for loading and transporting goods... with an investment of 120,000 pesos, this metal structure can be your new home.

The containers, which measure 30 square meters, are an option that honors recycling, since after cleaning, interior coating and insulation, it is conditioned as a home with electrical installation, running water, drainage, heating and gas installation.

"These structures are conditioned to be habitable and have all the comforts of a traditional house (...), and can also be adapted depending on the needs, tastes and budget of the client," he added.

The price of a container is a little cheaper than the average cost of a social housing, of 180 thousand pesos, which currently measures about 45 square meters on average.

The use of containers for construction began in the 90s as an artistic expression and to propose alternative and space-saving solutions, mainly in Nordic countries.

According to data from the Ministry of Economy (SE), between 1.8 and two million containers enter Mexico each year.

Vita Espacios was born in 2003 and was created with 6 million dollars (mdd), coming from the five partners that created the Mexican company. It currently has no competition in this niche, as it is the only company dedicated entirely to containerization to create living spaces.

And although this company was created to generate a new option in the low-income housing market, houses are not the only product it offers.

In addition to housing, containers can be used for the development of schools, laboratories, recreation centers, clinics, cells, checkpoints and surveillance, care modules, shelters, citizen care modules, temporary housing, workshops, farms, businesses, and so on.
